Thread Together works with  volunteers and interns that come from all over the world. From helping at events, to packing clothes in the warehouse to helping customers at one of our Clothing Hubs: There are so many ways that you can help. And we are always looking for more volunteers.

Thread Together has many different volunteering opportunities available. If you are located in Sydney, the below roles may be of interest to you.

SORTING ASSISTANT
To sort clothes, package orders for delivery and maintain quality stock under the direction of the Program Coordinator.

Where: Thread Together – Banksmeadow
When: Casual
Reports to: Operations Manager

Commitment required:

• Casual – no long term commitment required

Duties and responsibilities:

• Help sort and count new stock arrivals

• Help pick up and pack stock for orders

• Help to keep the warehouse neat, tidy and organised

Knowledge, skills and experience

• A positive, can do attitude

• A positive, can do attitude

• Work as part of a team and independently

• Be suitability fit to comply with physical requirements of the position

• Ability to judge an item of clothing on its suitability for purpose

Standard Role Requirements (all Volunteers)

• Embrace and integrate Thread Together Vision, Purpose and Values

• Undergo a satisfactory criminal history assessment

• Be physically and mentally capable and report to undertake voluntary tasks in a fit state to perform all duties

• Must provide evidence of Australian residency or current working VISA

• Maintain confidentiality in line with Thread Together’s policies

• Attend a volunteer induction and orientation session

 

 

CLOTHING HUB ASSISTANT
Our Pop-in store in the Addison project, is a space that offers the community free clothes, food and housing. We would like your help with serving customers, hanging clothes and tracking the vouchers.

Where: 145A Anzac Pde – Kensignton
When: Tuesdays 1.30PM-3.30PM and/or Fridays 10.00AM-12.00PM
Reports to: Operations Manager

Commitment required:

• From a few hours every month to once or twice weekly

Duties and responsibilities:

• Recommend and display items that match recipients needs

• Ensure high levels of recipient satisfaction through excellent dignifying service

• Manage vouchers check and filing process

• Keep the store clean and tidy

• Other duties as directed by Program Coordinator

Knowledge, skills and experience

• Patience, empathy and the willingness to help people

• Good interpersonal and communication skills

• Relate well with people from a variety of different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds• An interest in and understanding of fashion

• An interest in and understanding of fashion

• Willingness to work autonomously and as a member of a team

Standard Role Requirements (all Volunteers)

• Embrace and integrate Thread Together Vision, Purpose and Values

PROGRAM AMBASSADORS
Thread Together is developing community engagement programs that will enable more people to be empowered into the joy of giving. We need a leader with great communication skills to organize our volunteer groups: Corporate Program, Future Leaders Program and Seeds of the Future.

Commitment required:

• By appointment

Duties and responsibilities:

• Commitment to a set day previously arranged

• Commitment to a set day previously arranged

• Guide and motivate volunteer groups in activities like sorting clothes, boxing, folding…

• Count and quality check the stock sorted

• Set up the directions for the activity and ensure that the tasks are done properly

• With younger kids, supervise and check the working

• Keep the place clean and tidy

• Other duties as directed by Program Coordinator

Knowledge, skills and experience

• Deep knowledge of Thread Together mission and vision

• Patience, empathy and the willingness to help people

• Leadership attitude

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• An interest in and understanding of fashion

• Willingness to work autonomously and as a member of a team

WARDROBE AMBASSADORS
We are looking for a leader with organisational skills that is looking for a weekly attendance. Our Wardrobes are places that provide a dignified, safe and positive environment where choice and service is provided.

Commitment required:

• A few hours every week

Duties and responsibilities:

• Count, pick up and organise the stock

• Ensure that the protocol is being followed by volunteers

• Support the clients that come in and provide a dignified, safe and positive service• Fulfilling orders and bays and manage the system inputs

• Other duties as directed by Program Coordinator

Knowledge, skills and experience

• Deep knowledge of Thread Together mission and vision

• Patience, empathy and the willingness to help people

• Leadership attitude• Good interpersonal and communication skills

• Relate well with people from a variety of different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds• An interest in and understanding of fashion
