Supporting Clothing Service
Passionate about community connection? Assist clients visiting Mobile Wardrobes and Special Events by helping them navigate our stock, find the right sizes, and enjoy a positive and dignified shopping experience.

Styling Clients
Turn your love for fashion into confidence for others! Work one-on-one with clients in our Clothing Hubs or Special Events to help select outfits with dignity, catering to their needs and building pride and self-worth.

Meeting & Greeting Clients
Have a warm, welcoming nature? Be the friendly face greeting clients across our services, introducing Thread Together and explaining how everything works so clients know what to expect.

Merchandising — Clothing Hub or Special Event
Have an eye for design and detail? Help prepare our Clothing Hubs and Special Events by arranging stock and creating welcoming displays for clients and caseworkers to browse and shop.

Merchandising — Mobile Wardrobe Preparation
Are you hands-on and practical? Help prepare our Mobile Wardrobes for service by sorting, sizing, and loading clothing to ensure our team arrives ready to deliver a seamless experience.

Sorting Clothing
Do you enjoy organising and categorising? Help unpack, sort, and process clothing deliveries at our hubs and storage sites so clothing is sized and ready for client activations.

Frequently Asked Questions
These FAQs cover volunteering with Thread Together at our Queensland clothing hubs, mobile wardrobe activations and special events - everything you need to know before your first shift.
Who can volunteer?
Anyone aged 16 or older is welcome to join a Thread Together activation. No prior clothing or retail experience is needed - just a friendly, positive attitude and a desire to make a difference in the community.
Will I be trained?
Yes! Every volunteer receives an induction before their first shift covering what to expect, client privacy and dignity, and basic safety guidelines for your role.
What happens at a Clothing Hub?
Our hubs are styled like a retail store so clients can choose their own clothing with dignity. As a hub volunteer, you might help set up and merchandise the space, sort and steam stock, assist clients as they shop, or pack down at the end of a session.
What happens at a Mobile Wardrobe activation?
The mobile wardrobe is a pop-up activation that travels to communities and partner sites across Queensland. Volunteers help unload and set up activation, display stock, and assist clients browsing and selecting items on the day.
What happens at a Special Event?
Special events range from community pop-ups to corporate and fundraising activations. Depending on the event, you might help with venue set-up and pack-down, styling and merchandising, greeting attendees, or providing general event support.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes and casual clothing that you don't mind getting a little dusty. Clothing hub and mobile wardrobe sessions involve light lifting and setting up stock, so dress for movement.
What if I need to cancel?
Life happens! Please let us know as early as possible if you can no longer make your shift so we can open up the spot to another volunteer.
