By Jennifer Rowan – Intern at Thread Together
My name is Jennifer Rowan and I am honored to currently be an intern at Thread Together. I am a rising third year student at Lafayette College in Easton, Pennsylvania.
Being and intern has been such a gratifying and powerful experience. Working with Thread Together will not only help the communities around me, but it will leave a personal and career oriented impact. It is an exciting thought to positively contribute to communities in need and to do so on a global scale; ultimately incorporating my main area of my collegiate studies, International Affairs with a concentration in Human Rights and Social Justice.
SOMETHING TO BRING HOME WITH ME
I have yet to find an organization that parallels Thread Together in the United States, and I hope the experience i have gathered as an intern will teach me how to bring something similar home with me. Thread Together’s mission–delivering clothing to members of the community who are doing it tough–parallels my future career ambitions.
I am beyond grateful to be a part of the Thread Together team as an intern. Through this Sydney internship with Thread Together, I hope to face valuable experiences both personally and professionally. This includes pushing my boundaries and contributing to the success of the organization as a whole. it also includes assisting those in need at the Clothing hubs, adapting a global perspective, facing new challenges and experiences. Last but not least it includes fully immersing myself in the Australian culture. I am beyond grateful to engage in such a thought-provoking, exploratory, impactful, and unique organization.
